A standard parallel threaded connection (threads to BS 1580) sealing on a metal to metal coned connection to SAE J514, where the male half incorporates a male thread c/w 37° external cone (74° included angle) and the female incorporates the mating 37° internal cone which engages onto the male connection and is secured via a female threaded swivel nut. This fitting is available in a straight or elbow configuration. It has an advantage over the NPT fitting as the hose does not have to be rotated on assembly.
A thin copper cone can be placed on the 37 ° cone to enhance the seal where microscopic particles could be present in a fluid system.
